The NHS employs more than 1.5 million people, yet much of the information they rely on is spread across pay circulars, trust intranets and long PDF handbooks. We bring the most useful parts together in one place and explain them in everyday language.

How we check our facts
Pay figures are taken from the NHS Employers pay scales and HMRC tax tables for the current tax year. When national rates change, we update our calculators and mark each guide with its review date. If you spot something out of date, please let us know and we'll correct it.
